The building Early Accra (bEA) Project is digitising a collection of highly endangered architectural and administrative archival documents created from as early as 1894 in what was then known as The Gold Coast.

The Architecture Writing Workshops are focused on producing researched essays on selected architectural buildings of interest in African Cities. The team is led by Professor Ola Uduku and Dr Irene Appeaning-Addo, and includes Kuukuwa Manful, Victoria Okoye and Dr J. O. Frimpong.

 

Shared Heritage Africa: Rediscovering Masterpieces

The project focuses on the rediscovery of post-war modern buildings in Ghana, Uganda, and Nigeria (1950-1970s). These fall in the period of independence from colonial rule and have a great educational and socio-political significance.

A cross-institutional research group coordinated between the Graduate School of Architecture (Johannesburg) and the Royal College of Art (London). Collaboratively exploring how city planning documents come to play mythical roles in urban spatial politics 

 

African State Architecture

This project brings together politics and architecture in Africa. It draws on fieldwork in countries across the continent to explore the shape of statehood, through a mapping of its fascinating buildings.
