Teaching Award
Kuukuwa Manful has won a Learning and Teaching Award at The University of Michigan for her course “History of Architecture I: The Architecture of Africa and African Diasporas”
The new History of Architecture course, designed from scratch, focuses on the architectures of Africa and African Diasporas.
Thematically and temporally, the course begins in the time before time and end in the known and unknowable future with stops along the way at various points such as ancient and medieval Kano, Djenne, Kumase, Zimbabwe, and Gede along with 18th and 19th century New Orleans, Accra, Elmina, Charleston, Lagos, Salvador, Rubaga and more.
